Let us start by saying this: Everyone has a dark side. Dr. Jekyll. Oprah. Even Gandhi.
Yes. Even Gandhi.
At the risk of sounding like Morpheus from the Matrix, you have two choices: You can choose to let your dark side live in the shadows or you can expose it for all that its worth. Many companies go to great lengths to hide the less than bubblegum aspects of their existence. We disagree with that. Mistakes and failures are real and they happen at every company. Besides, a lot of good can come from liberating your alter ego and risking failure.
For one thing, a wee bit of criticism never hurt anyone. Often we learn more from mistakes than we do from success. Honest critique, when motivated by mutually beneficial improvement, drives innovation and inspires solutions to the world’s challenges. Think about it. The United States wouldn’t even exist if it weren’t for that group of committed individuals—usually referred to reverently as our Forefathers—taking a walk on the dark side for the sake of progress, change and a better way of doing things.
Since tea parties and revolutionary wars aren’t really our schtick, we decided to go with a micro-blog—which we call Brand Nourishment. What the heck is a micro-blog? Well it’s just like a regular blog, except that it contains brief, specific, thought-provoking ideas and none of the B.S. that comes as word-counts expand.
The point of Brand Nourishment is not to tell you what to think—though we’ll probably tell you what WE think—it’s to get the gears turning, the brain juice flowing and your ideating powers charged + ready to take your brand (or the world, for that matter) to new heights. We want to inspire you to nourish your brand, not simply maintain it. We want to look at challenges + potential from a different perspective. We want to throw away the box, not just get outside it.
Are you ready to succumb to the power of the dark side? We hope so. It can get lonely over here sometimes.
