Zoolala: Animalia

For the past eight years, Riley Weiss has coordinated with the Zoo’s Foundation team to nourish their brand through high-quality community events that create deeper connections with their donor base. Zoolala is the Oregon Zoo Foundation’s biggest annual fundraiser. Our challenge each year is to develop a fresh event name, theme, branding, look and feel, and creative collateral to drive attendance to the event.

We leverage our entire team’s creativity to shape the Zoolala event name and theme. Armed with the knowledge that the Zoo Foundation was looking to tap into a new evolution of donors in 2010, we conceptualized Animalia—a whimsical theme based on carnival lore and the untamed revelry of the wild, but still appropriate for the Zoo’s adult donor audience.

With this direction, the creative department developed a vivid, satuarted color palette, engaging visuals and brought in Portland tattoo artist Louis Hess to create custom illustration for the event posters and event programs. The result was eye-catching creative that engaged and delighted the Zoo Foundation’s donor audience.
