Since 1975, Zupan’s Markets has provided Portland shoppers a grocery experience unlike any other. The company knows that selling the best of everything you can buy—highest-quality meats, wines, produce, baked goods and flowers—with friendly, knowledgeable service creates loyal and passionate customers. After an extensive remodel of their SE Portland location, Zupan’s asked Riley Weiss to lead an initiative to increase store traffic.

We developed a ten-week direct marketing program, targeted to a list of local, long-term customers. The weekly mailer featured “what’s new” info and coupons, and the card’s look and features were repeated throughout the store on low-tack stickers and custom-made, rotating signage. What you saw in the mail is what you saw in the store.

Daily traffic increased by 11% over the ten-week course. To continue driving new and repeat shoppers, Zupan’s also engaged Riley Weiss for the creation of magazine advertisements, the initiation of a social media and PR campaign and market research in the form of focus groups. Today, the company continues to build on its reputation of unparalleled quality goods and exceptional service.
